DR. ALI ZENTNER
MD, FRCPC, Diplomat ABOM, Specialist, Internal Medicine and Obesity

Dr. Ali Zentner received her undergraduate medical degree from McMaster University and completed her Internal Medicine Residency with an extra year of Cardiology training at the University of Calgary.  She is a Diplomat of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. more

Dr. Bittman is a General Internist with additional training and experience in management of obesity, high blood pressure and cardiovascular risk management. more

Dr. Nadia Khan
MD FRCPC, Internal Medicine, Hypertension, Obesity

Dr. Nadia Khan is Head of General Internal Medicine and Professor of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. She is a general internist at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, BC and is an American Hypertension Society Clinical Specialist in Hypertension. She is a past Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Career Scientist, and a clinician-scientist in health services research and epidemiology at the Center for Health Evaluation and Outcomes Sciences in Vancouver, Canada.

Dr. Khan was President of Hypertension Canada (2016-2020) and Head of Research and Education at the International Society of Hypertension (2020-2022). She is a member of Obesity Canada. Her research area includes gender and ethnicity research on cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes and hypertension epidemiology, and health services utilization including optimizing digital solutions to improve patient-centered care. She published over 160 papers in these areas. She is an author for the Global Guidelines in Hypertension 2020, Hypertension Canada guidelines, BC Hypertension Guidelines, and the Diabetes Canada 2018 guidelines.

Nadia is an enthusiastic learner with a sense of compassion that is matched only by her intelligence. Her patients comment on her capacity to care and her wonderful listening skills. She is constantly striving to provide the best care for her patients and is a true advocate for the health of others. 

Dr. DEBBIE ROSENBAUM, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Debbie Rosenbaum is a Clinical Associate Professor in UBC’s Division of General Internal Medicine. She completed fellowship training in Nephrology at UBC and additional training in hypertension and cardiovascular risk management.

Her areas of special interest include acute inpatient medicine, medical management of patients with eating disorders, cardiovascular risk management, obesity medicine and medical education. She established an Internal Medicine outreach clinic in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. She role models and delivers patient centred care always meeting her patients where they are at in terms of their health goals.  Dr. Rosenbaum is involved with undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and aspires to create a culture of compassionate, safe and dignified patient care  

When she is not in her clinic or the hospital, you could find her hiking, biking, spending time with family and friends and more realistically driving her kids around.

Dr. CHARLES YANG, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Charles Yang was born in China and came to Canada at the age of 10. He obtained his undergraduate medical degree from University of British Columbia as part of the Island Medical Program. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency in 2023 with his final year specializing in Obesity Medicine right here at Revolution Medical Clinic, where he found his passion.

Dr. Yang is the newest addition to the clinic. He is grateful to have found Revolution Medical Clinic for his practice, surrounded by mentors and colleagues that exemplify a new model of compassionate care. Charles speaks empathy fluently. His passion for combatting weight bias comes through in his clinical everyday. Although he is relatively new to this field of medicine his commitment to patient care and his overall sense of kindness and clinical excellence are truly a model for a bright future. We are so lucky that Dr. Yang has chosen Obesity Medicine as the place to grow his career.

In his spare time Dr. Yang enjoys photography, F1 racing, and spending time with friends and family.

LEIGH COLLINS
Bsc, RN Registered Nurse

Leigh began her post secondary education at Simon Fraser University working towards her generalized science degree before branching off to complete her Nursing School at Douglas College in 2001.  more



Karen Thibodeau, BScN, BScKin

Karen earned a  Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) from the University of Toronto and  BS in exercise physiology from the University of Pittsburgh. She has been practicing as a registered nurse in Vancouver since 2006 with a particular focus in mental health and addictions. Karen continues to work part time as an outreach nurse in this area. She brings a unique perspective to this team. Karen combines a strong knowledge of Psychiatric Medicine with empathy and compassion. Karen has a strong academic and personal background in nutrition and fitness.

In addition to an extensive career in nursing, Karen has competed as a professional long distance triathlete for 8 years with multiple podium finishes. Having been out of competitive sports for five years, in 2007 Karen decided to enter the Vancouver International Marathon. Not being familiar with the sport, Karen managed to win for fastest first time marathoner with a time of 3 hours and 10 minutes. After being encouraged to enter the world of triathlon, Karen decided to enter the Oliver BC Half Ironman, and with only a short amount of time to train she won the race and earned a spot at Ironman Canada, where she placed 2nd overall female. Six months later Karen won the Honolulu half marathon and was back in the world of racing. She is too humble to speak of any of this which makes her a true leader and inspiration. Karen’s humility, intelligence and compassion are at the heart of all that she does. She is passionate about supporting others in their pursuit of their own optimal health on their terms. Karen’s number one priority is to provide compassionate care to all and to ensure people have a positive healthcare experience. We could not agree more…..

Lisa Cramm

Lisa was born and raised in White Rock, British Columbia. She graduated from University of Victoria with a Bachelors of Arts

in Anthropology in 2003. After travelling the word for a few years, Lisa returned from her soul searching and graduated from

Dalhousie University with a degree in Registered Nursing in

2010. Lisa worked in Cardiovascular Intensive Care in Halifax and then in the General Intensive Care in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Lisa always knew she wanted to make the transition into outpatient nursing and had a particular passion for prevention

medicine. Through a chance meeting in 2014 she met Dr. Zentner and the stars aligned.

Lisa joined the Revolution Team in September 2015 and fast became a shining star in prevention medicine. Her capacity for

learning and problem solving is unmatched. She is an expert in motivational communication. In

addition to expanding her knowledge in management of Diabetes Care and Diabetes Education she has become an

expert in Obesity Nursing. Lisa’s sense of compassion becomes clear within minutes of

meeting her. She has an innate ability to see the positive in every situation and to help others focus on it. In addition to

being an outstanding nurse, she’s just a really good person. She is smart, kind and her sense of commitment to her patients and

her coworkers is a tribute to her profession.

Lynda Soberanes, MSc, RD

Lynda Soberanes is a Registered Dietitian with the College of Dietitians of BC and a member of the Dietitians of Canada. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition and Food Science in 2007 in Mexico and her Masters of Science in Human Nutrition at the University of British Columbia in 2015. Lynda has a wide range of experience both in the clinical and research owrld of nutrition. She has worked in different areas such as nutrition research, teaching, clinical and community nutrition with diverse populations. Her clinical experience spans a host of unique patient populations from older adults, children, pregnant and lactating women. She has particular clinical experience in working with patients with metabolic conditions such as people with overweight/obesity, diabetes and heart disease. Lynda has particular expertise in counselling patients with binge eating and disordered eating.

Lynda is passionate about disease prevention and a tailored approach to each person. She has a research-based practice and deeply cares and respects the individual clinical path of each one of her patients. Lynda understands the big role that food plays in everyone’s lives as a way to get nourished, but also as something to enjoy that has the potential to bring us together with family, friends and our traditions- regardless of where we are coming from. 

Outside work, Lynda spends most of her time with her husband and 2 children, either watching movies on rainy days, or spending time in the nature as much as possible. She loves to start the day going to the gym, swimming, doing yoga or go for a run as exercise helps her to relax, concentrate and be in a good mood. She is a force of compassion in this clinic and celebrate each patient for their own unique experience, needs and health processes.

Shalyn was born in Iloilo, Philippines and came to Canada at the age of 12. She has worked as a Medical Office Assistant since 2005 and has worked with Dr. Zentner since 2009.  more
